Vienna to Bratislava 34 miles. (Total distance 34 miles)

We had an early start this morning and were checked in at Edinburgh without any hassles by 4am.  Straightforward flight to Vienna and had all our luggage and bikes within half an hour of landing.

We soon got the bikes sorted out and quite quickly found the cycle path out of the airport.  For the first time on our trips I have mapped out a route and downloaded the planned days onto our garmin cycle
computer, sor far it has worked great giving us turn by turn directions on a whole range of roads, cycle paths and dirt tracks.

The first half of today's trip was really good but after we took a ferry crossing over to the Danube cycle path it became a wee bit monotonous riding in a straight line along the flood bank.

It also hot very hot, over 34 degrees, so we were pretty knackered by the time we reached Bratislava.  

So after a wander round the town it's off for an early night.  Hopefully the forecast for cooler weather tomorrow is correct.

The Plan

This year's plan is to cycle from Vienna to Venice taking in wee bits of Slovakia and Hungary, bigger bits of Austria and Italy, and a large chunk of Slovenia.

As we have an early flight from Edinburgh tomorrow morning the holiday starts today with an overnighter at the Premier Inn at South Queensferry we have just had an excellent meal at Orrocco Pier with stunning views of yachts racing below the rail bridge.  We also had the weird privilege of wandering over the deserted Forth Road Bridge which has been closed due to the opening of the new, mega congested, Queensferry Crossing.

Let's hope tomorrow's flight goes smoothly.
